Suhani Rathi
reality has morphed into a stranger
who I now prefer to familiarity
All about me
The bright iridescent palette of early evening
A spectrum of colours combining greys,
flaming orange and tones of yellow and red.
Living in a house turned gallery
I find more meaning in abstracts
than I ever could in a museum full of portraits.
This painting resonates with my mood
taking on any meaning I need it to
I see a reflection of myself in it
A young woman
Thinking, exploring
Sometimes unsettled in the chaos
And other times basking in the ballet of order
in a swirl of calm and fury.
Unlike the painting, however,
I am still working on me.

I am currently embarking on an exciting journey as a third year student at the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville. With a passion for exploring diverse fields, I have chosen a path that combines my interest in business and the arts, pursuing a double major in Commerce and Economics and a minor in Art History.
As an analyst with Virginia Venture Fund and a student member at CAV Angels I am fortunate to be a part of innovative and dynamic communities that foster critical thinking and creativity while providing me invaluable opportunities to gain real world experience and collaborate with like minded individuals.
My mother being an artist fostered in me a deep appreciation for the historical and cultural context of artistic expression, I hope to further deepen my relation with Art History through my college experiences.
This blog is a culmination of my writing as a high school student and now my academic writing in college, I simply want to share my ideas through the written word and hope that I write something that people can resonate with.
My publications:
In 2014, I was first published in Timbuktoo young authors anthology, “Whackylicious”.
Later in 2018 my solo book of poems 'Down in the garden' was published.
In 2020, my poems won the weekly challenges of Delhi Poetry Slam:
